About the library
The Therapeutic Library is a basic library with a specialized collection focused on human medicine and health care. In addition to specialist literature, it also offers a wide selection of Czech and international fiction, poetry, popular science publications and board games.
The library's mission is to provide quality library and information services for all patients and employees of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the general public. The library promotes professional development, contributes to scientific and research activities and at the same time creates a space for mental health support not only for patients.
REGISTRATION
Library membership is available to all interested persons, and is set up on site at the lending desk during library hours. Patients and hospital staff register free of charge and without the need to show proof of identity.
Students are required to show proof of their studies (e.g. ISIC card) and pay a fee of 100 CZK. Other users present a valid identity document and pay a fee of 150 CZK for membership.
Library services
Borrowing services
- Loan service - borrowing documents only in the library area.
- Absentee - borrowing documents outside the library premises (to your room or home).
- Interlibrary loan and reprographic services within the Czech Republic (MVS) - securing specialized documents or copies of them from other libraries within the Czech Republic, or making our documents available to other libraries in the country.
- Arranging International Interlibrary Loan and Reprographic Service (ILLS) - providing specialized documents or copies of them from foreign libraries through the National Library of Medicine.
- Circulating Loan Service - regular lending of selected periodicals from our or a cooperating medical library's collection.
Information services
- Consultancy services - e.g. recommendations of cultural and social events or tourist destinations in Beroun and the surrounding area.
- Bibliographic and information services - help with searching for information and documents from electronic catalogues and databases, including recommendations of verified sources on mental health topics.
- Location-Information Services - locating the availability of specific documents in a worldwide network of libraries.
- Accessing electronic information resources - checking the availability of full text of specialist documents.
- Practical presentations on working with electronic resources - demonstrations of searching professional databases, artificial intelligence tools and other electronic resources.
- Internet access - computer and workstations with Wi-Fi connection are available for readers to work with their own laptops.
Research services
Customized literature review according to the specified topic and selected criteria (e.g., background for a professional thesis, exam preparation, article, conference paper, etc.). The reviews are processed within an agreed timeframe, taking into account the library's operational possibilities. They are based on available electronic databases, other online resources, printed documents and information aids.
To ensure the quality of the search, please specify the topic as precisely as possible, indicating keywords, time range and preferred languages.
