About us

The Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre (CDR) inBeroun is a unique psychiatric facility, not only in the Czech Republic but also across Europe. Our treatment is based on the latest findings and methods in modern psychiatry. A caring and humane approach is key to our work.

We provide comprehensive care for people living with mental illness or at risk of developing mental illness. We offer outpatient and acute inpatient care, as well as psychotherapeutic programmes designed by the leading Czech psychiatrist, Prof. MUDr. Ján Prašek, CSc. In addition, we offer patients the option of day care, neurostimulation and sleep medicine.

As part of the AKESO Group, we aim to fulfil the long-standing commitment of our owner, Sotirios Zavalianis, to provide comprehensive care in a dignified environment using the very latest methods and knowledge. It is important to maintain the level of comfort to which people are accustomed in our facilities.

When CDR was established, our aim was to create a psychiatric facility capable of realising the AKESO Group’s core vision: to combine healthcare with a human touch and a welcoming approach. We know that these values are absolutely crucial in mental health care, which is why we always prioritise them.

An environment that supports treatment

When designing and building the Centre, it was crucial for us to ensure that both patients and staff felt comfortable there. The result is a modern, airy and welcoming environment. Furthermore, the CDR provides patients with maximum comfort in the form of exceptionally well-equipped single and twin rooms. Furthermore, patients can make use of the swimming pool, the multi-purpose cultural and conference hall, art therapy, kinesiotherapy and other supportive therapeutic activities, all within the building itself. A completely unique lighting system that respects the day and night cycle significantly enhances the effectiveness of treatment.

Digital therapeutic care accessible to all

Mindwell is a digital therapeutic platform based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Its main aim is to increase access to high-quality mental health care for everyone who needs it. It is designed as a tool for managing mild to moderate mental health issues and helps to prevent them. CBT is a scientifically proven therapeutic approach, and studies show that its digital form is comparable to face-to-face therapy. Mindwell comprises individual e-programmes for addressing depression, worries, anxiety, excessive stress and burnout. The creator of the e-programme content and the project’s clinical lead is Prof. MUDr. Ján Praško, CSc., together with a team of experts.

Each e-programme comprises 12 modules, with each module corresponding to a single in-person session with a therapist. In each module, clients will find theoretical lessons, stories, videos, examples and practical exercises aimed at improving their mental well-being. Throughout the e-programme, the client is supported by their personal therapist, who provides feedback and assesses their progress. The client completes theoretical and practical exercises that help them recognise their unhealthy thought patterns. Through repetition, learning and practice, the client then changes these habits into healthier ones. This is reflected in a change in their behaviour, enabling them to cope better with various stressful situations.

Mindwell is a modern, user-friendly digital platform which, using scientifically proven psychological methods, helps people to think, behave and feel better. Find out more at: https://mindwell.cz/.

The Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun has been awarded a grant for the ‘Development of Acute Psychiatric Care’ project, which aims to increase the availability of acute psychiatric care, improve the transparency of the system and strengthen the capacity of healthcare providers to deliver this care. The project will also help to ensure adequate financial remuneration for acute psychiatric care. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus and the Employment Plus Operational Programme.
