We are a qualified psychiatric facility that provides the best psychiatric care to everyone, without distinction. We want to create the most supportive environment possible for our patients, combining innovative treatment with a personalised approach, relying on high staff expertise, state-of-the-art equipment and a modern environment.
A description of the individual services can be found here.
At CDR we focus on a wide range of mental health problems. We offer outpatient care including inpatient care, acute inpatient care and inpatient care on psychotherapy wards. We also have an emergency admission service.
We are a general psychiatric unit, which means we can help you with all the common types of acute mental health problems. We have a structured psychotherapy programme for patients with borderline personality disorder, OCD, depression and anxiety disorders.
We do not provide specific structured treatment for addictions, eating disorders and organic mental disorders.
We are the most modern facility for patients with mental illness in the Czech Republic. We treat patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. This means that patients are not only cared for by our psychiatrists, but also by psychologists, psychiatric nurses, movement and creative therapists, addiction therapists or activation workers.
We try to get to all patients as soon as possible. However, as with other psychiatric facilities, the demand for psychiatric services far exceeds our capacity.
Waiting times for different forms of care vary. For outpatient care, expect a timeframe in the lower units of weeks. For structured psychotherapy programs, waiting times can be in the order of units of months.
As in similar types of facilities, CDR has an acute psychiatric outpatient clinic and an acute inpatient ward.
The emergency admission and acute inpatient care are primarily intended for patients from the catchment area of Beroun and its surroundings.
You can make an appointment for psychotherapy, diagnostic-educational programmes and individual residential programmes on our website, regardless of where you live.
All medical care provided at CDR is covered by health insurance. In some wards, clients are accommodated in extra single rooms, for which they pay extra.
In addition, we provide premium individual care under the Altoa program. You can find more information about it at this link.
Yes, we also treat clients without public health insurance. However, you will have to pay for your care yourself. The prices of our medical services are comparable to other facilities. For information on prices for self-pay procedures, please contact the Mental Rehabilitation Center directly.
Most of our treatment programs are for patients over the age of 18. The exception is the adolescent inpatient program, which accepts patients between the ages of 14 and 18.
We currently operate an inpatient unit for adolescents, which offers a comprehensive therapeutic programme for patients aged 14 to 18. We are planning to launch an inpatient ward for patients aged 15 years and older in the near future.
If your loved one's problems are so serious that he or she could endanger himself or herself or those around him or her, call one of the integrated rescue services directly: 155 (ambulance service) or 158 (police). The treating psychiatrist must decide if your loved one should be hospitalised.
If the problems are not severe enough to call the EMTs, it is always necessary for your loved one to seek treatment. This means that he or she must come in person for examination and treatment.
If you would like to contact a specific doctor working in the CDR, please contact the reception on +420 311 745 888. She will then pass on the information and reason for contact to the doctor in question, who will contact you as soon as possible.
Psychosomatic problems are one of the most frequently treated problems in psychiatry, which is why CDR focuses on them in depth. You will be cared for by specialists who have extensive experience in this field.
We only provide psychiatric care services, including prescription services, to patients who are being treated by us.
The most efficient way is to fill in the order form on this link.
You can also make an appointment by calling +420 311 745 888.
Once you have completed and submitted the form, we will register your request and confirm that you have been placed on the waiting list within three days. The waiting list is then attended to by the health professionals responsible for each form of care. When it is your turn, you will be contacted by our receptionists and offered an appointment for an examination or admission to hospital.
We always try to find you an appointment as soon as possible so that we can help you with your problems as soon as possible. However, due to limited capacity and high patient demand, you should expect a relatively long waiting time. This depends on the form of care you are interested in, but on average it is in the order of weeks to months.
Yes, a referral from either your doctor or our outpatient clinic is required for admission. Your attending physician or psychiatrist can also make an appointment for hospitalization with your consent via the order form and can also provide a referral.
Unfortunately, this is not possible yet. Individual therapies are prescribed by the attending physician depending on the needs of the patient, the type of treatment and the capacity of the CDR.
As a standard, we do not offer the possibility to make an appointment with a specific doctor for an examination. However, you can book this service as part of Altoa's individual care programme.
Patients in outpatient care see a doctor for regular appointments to help them with their problems. He or she may prescribe medication and may offer other appropriate treatments. At CDR, we think of outpatient care primarily as a means of medium-term help for the most difficult life situations associated with mental illness.
Outpatient care is time-limited; our goal is to individualize it to the needs of the patient so that an intensive treatment regimen is maintained only for the necessary length of time.
Please note that outpatient appointments must be made first.
We currently offer patients an appointment within weeks, after they make an appointment via the online form. However, this time can vary depending on the workload of the doctors.
The office hours of the outpatient clinics are every weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., you will be given a specific date when you make an appointment. In addition, there is an acute outpatient clinic open all the time for patients with very serious acute mental health problems who are brought in by the ambulance service or come in themselves.
An indication examination is a one-time assessment of your condition in our outpatient clinic that precedes your placement in all treatment programs at the Mental Rehabilitation Center. It is a standard psychiatric evaluation where we ask about your medical history, current difficulties and treatment experience. During this visit, you will also learn from the psychiatrist whether the program is appropriate for you and when there are available dates to start. The indication examination is not used to change your current treatment.
It is care during which patients are admitted to hospital for very serious acute mental health problems. During their hospitalisation they receive intensive group and individual psychotherapy activities to help them improve their health. The treatment also includes complementary creative and movement therapies.
Acute inpatient care wards are primarily for patients with the most serious conditions. Patients are usually brought in by ambulance.
Hospitalization in acute wards is tailored to the specific condition and needs of the patient, so it is not possible to determine in advance how long the patient will spend in the CDR. On average, patients stay in our acute wards for sixteen days.
Acute hospitalization is decided by the CDR physician based on the outpatient indication. It is not possible to make an appointment for this type of hospitalization in advance.
Yes, a referral from your treating physician or our outpatient clinic is required for admission to psychotherapy and diagnostic-educational programs. With your consent, your treating physician or psychiatrist can also make an appointment for inpatient admission via the online order form, and may include a referral.
It is a programme designed for specific groups of patients with the same mental health problems. Throughout the treatment period, patients have a well-defined programme consisting of psychotherapeutic activities and other accompanying treatment components. The aim is to alleviate their problems and improve their mental health. At CDR, we currently offer programs that last five to six weeks.
The psychotherapeutic programs we have at CDR are designed specifically for patients with particular psychological difficulties. These are programs for patients with borderline personality disorder, OCD, anxiety and depression. During these programmes they undergo therapeutic activities (e.g. art therapy, aquatic therapy, music therapy) to help them with difficulties arising from their specific diagnosis.
Diagnostic and educational programmes are based on a series of structured examinations and tests to confirm or refute a diagnosis, or to analyse symptoms and make a diagnosis on the basis of these. They also include complementary therapies and psychoeducation to help understand and better manage specific difficulties.
We currently run psychotherapy programs for patients with borderline and obsessive compulsive disorders and a psychotherapy program for patients with anxiety and depressive disorders. In the spring of 2025, we launched a diagnostic-educational program focusing on attention deficit disorder and ADHD in adults.
Psychotherapy programmes for patients with borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders and depressive disorder last six weeks. The programme for the diagnosis of attention deficit disorders lasts twelve days.
All medical care at CDR is covered by health insurance. For diagnostic-educational programs, patients are accommodated in superiorly furnished single rooms, which are covered according to the current hospital price list.
In inpatient care, patients regularly attend a day psychotherapy programme and then return home. Inpatient care is appropriate for problems for which traditional outpatient care is not appropriate, but are not severe enough to require hospitalization.
We currently operate an adolescent inpatient unit and a fractionated inpatient unit for the treatment of insomnia and for patients with borderline personality disorder. Fractional inpatient means that patients do not come in every day, but usually only once a week, but on a regular basis. Plans are underway to start other inpatient groups.
The waiting time to get into an inpatient group varies depending on the type of inpatient unit. Usually, the patient waits in the order of weeks.
The Sleep Medicine Centre is a unit within the Mental Rehabilitation Centre. It combines psychiatry with neurology. It specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of sleep-related medical conditions. Patients most commonly present with problems such as insomnia, suspected sleep apnea, snoring, abnormal sleep movements, nightmares and fright, sleepwalking or excessive daytime sleepiness. The Sleep Medicine Center also includes a fractionated inpatient unit for patients with insomnia.
Use the online order form, which can be found at this link. If you have a referral form, be sure to attach it to the form.
You will only be admitted to the Sleep Medicine Centre on the basis of a referral from your GP or outpatient specialist. This will help us to better understand your condition and choose the appropriate treatment for you.
It is a non-pharmacological type of treatment during which magnetic current stimulation (rTMS) or low intensity direct current stimulation (tDCS) is used in our centre. It is used in combination with other types of treatment to enhance the effect of psychiatric treatment and psychotherapy.
Of course. Neurostimulation is an established supportive treatment in neuropsychiatric indications. Their effect is supported by numerous scientific studies.
Unfortunately, I can't. Neurostimulation must always be indicated by a medical professional.
We have contracts with all Czech health insurance companies.
This is different for each type of care and each ward. In general, however, admission to planned hospitalisation, psychotherapy wards and residential care is preceded by an assessment in the outpatient clinic. You will be booked in for this by completing and submitting an online booking form. After the examination, the doctor will assess your condition and recommend the type of treatment that is most appropriate for you.
Of course, we provide care to all patients.
Patients can only be admitted with a guide or assistance dog. These dogs must be properly identified and you must carry a valid certificate of their role or purpose.
Take your ID, health insurance card, a small amount of money or credit card and any medication you are taking with you to the hospital. You will also need personal hygiene items (toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, lotion, hair shampoo, comb), underwear, socks, comfortable clothes for daily wear, slippers, clothes and shoes for sports activities, a swimsuit, pajamas and a towel. Men should not forget shaving equipment, and women sanitary towels and tampons. If you wear or use any of the following items, be sure to remember your glasses, dentures, hearing aid or walking stick.
Leave any firearms, cold and hand weapons at home, as well as defensive devices such as pepper spray or a stun gun. Alcohol, drugs and other addictive substances are also prohibited. With the exception of assistance and guide dogs, bringing animals to CDR is prohibited. Bringing valuables and large amounts of cash is not recommended.
Of course, visitors are allowed on the wards. However, they must respect the running of the ward and its programme and follow the rules of the CDR. As a rule, visits take place in the afternoon after the patient's daily programme has finished.
This depends on the type of treatment you are undergoing and the extent of your difficulties. If it is appropriate for your condition, your doctor will be happy to prescribe walks, with or without an escort.
Patients receive meals three times a day, either in the common dining room or on the ward. Each patient has a diet, possibly with special nutritional supplements or preparations, based on the doctor's recommendation. We do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions.
In addition, there is a cafeteria in the CDR atrium where you can purchase some staple foods, snacks, deli items or coffee.
The Mental Rehabilitation Centre is part of the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital. You can find it on the northeastern outskirts of the city. The hospital is easily accessible by car, public transport bus and on foot from the centre of Beroun.
There is a large outdoor car park in front of the entrance to the hospital, which is at your disposal. Parking on the hospital grounds is only available to patients with a ZTP or ZTP/P card.
No, spa care is usually provided in spa houses and this type of care has a different structure and course. Our care is mainly general psychiatric and specialised psychotherapeutic.
The patient can make an appointment on their own after you issue a referral for treatment. For more urgent situations, you can use our contact number where we have a special option for medical professionals.
The patient always leaves our care with a report that contains full information. We also send the report to the registering GP at the earliest possible date via data mail or in writing.
You can find an overview of the currently open wards and information about the types of treatment we offer in our Services section.
