The twenty-fourth EY Entrepreneur of the Year of the Czech Republic title went to Sotirios Zavalianis. He had already won the competition in the regional rounds in the Central Bohemia Region. His company AKESO Holding operates in the field of private healthcare across medical disciplines and develops a number of projects in an innovative way. The jury also praised his activities in the field of social responsibility. He received the award, now also under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Petr Pavel, today at the Žofín in Prague from the chairman of the jury and last year's winner Jakub Havrlant and Martina Kneiflová, managing partner of EY Czech Republic.

Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, Hořovice Hospital, Multiscan within the Complex Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region, the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation in Beroun, AKESO POLIKLINIKA in Prague or the Ondřejov Day Psychotherapeutic Sanatorium. These are just some of the medical centres that AKESO Holding successfully operates. They apply a number of innovative approaches in primary, acute and follow-up care, work with artificial intelligence and are intensively involved in projects in the field of telemedicine and distance medicine.

The year was 1998 when Sotirios Zavalianis acquired a stake in Mediscan Group Ltd. and with it his first experience of running an outpatient and diagnostic centre. Over time, he managed to build a unique network of medical centres, which is one of the most modern in the country in terms of the level of care.

"I consider the award to be the imaginary peak of my business career so far. I am very pleased to receive the award from an independent jury. It is a signal for me to continue doing what I am doing and a motivation to further improve our business," said the new winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 Czech Republic Sotirios Zavalianis after receiving the award.

"Sotirios Zavalianis has made a significant contribution to the development of healthcare in the Czech Republic. He has proved that domestic medicine is among the best in the global context. His approach to patients, his care for employees and his activities in the field of education and support for the needy are worthy of recognition alongside his unquestionable business achievements," said Martina Kneiflová, EY Czech Republic Managing Partner, adding: "This year's EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition once again introduced remarkable Czech business personalities who can boldly compare themselves with the best of the best. I believe that our winner has a great chance to impress and succeed in the global finals of the competition."

"At a time when the world is facing constant challenges and uncertainties, we need to recognise the courage, innovation, perseverance and creativity of the nominated entrepreneurs. Their tireless work and efforts are an example to us all. Their success also strengthens the whole business environment and their stories can be an inspiration not only for the current but also for the next generation of entrepreneurs," summed up Maciej Galant, the representative of the traditional partner of the competition, CEO of BMW Czech Republic s.r.o.

Sotirios Zavalianis will take part as a national representative in the global final of the competition, which is announced by EY in nearly 60 countries worldwide and whose winners are selected by independent juries according to uniform criteria. The EY World Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced in June this year at the traditional gala event held in Monte Carlo.
