Parents need not worry about their child’s schooling
Many parents are hesitant to enrol their child in a day centre precisely because they fear their child will miss too much of the curriculum and struggle at school.
“Parents often ask how their child will manage to balance intensive therapy with school. With us, children do not miss out on their compulsory schooling. We are able to provide primary school education directly within the hospital. This means the child stays in touch with their lessons, and once they’ve completed the programme, their return to their regular school is much easier,” explains Tereza Příhodová.
How does day care work and who is it intended for?
Day centres offer intensive therapeutic care without the need for hospitalisation – the child attends the programme on weekdays and spends afternoons and weekends at home in their natural environment.
Day centre for younger children (aged 12–15)
This programme is designed for primary school pupils who have difficulties attending school (e.g. due to school phobia).
- Aim: A safe return to the school community and the strengthening of coping strategies.
- Duration and times: 6 weeks. Mondays and Thursdays from 8.00 am to 2.30 pm; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm.
Day Centre for Older Children (aged 14–18)
Designed for adolescents (who will not yet have turned 18 during the programme) who require structured support from specialists.
- Aim: To stabilise mental health, practise coping with stress and return to normal functioning.
- Duration and times: 6 weeks, every working day from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Admission to both day centres is always preceded by an assessment, during which psychologists evaluate whether this type of care is suitable for the child in question.
