15. 10. 2024

The end of last week belonged to all the experts in the field of psychiatry and clinical psychology at the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital in the pavilion of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre. In a modern multifunctional hall, the first edition of the symposium was held here, which was subtitled "Common goal, many possibilities."

More than 60 experts from the ranks of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and other non-medical staff attended the two-day conference. The lectures were divided into four blocks, namely child psychiatry, sexual medicine, neurostimulation in psychiatry, the role of a balanced lifestyle in relation to mental health and many others.

"This is the first time we have held this symposium at the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation and I am very happy that the very first edition was a success. I would like to thank all of the presenters for their very interesting, enriching presentations and I would also like to thank the audience for attending. As the title of the symposium suggests, our goal is common and there are many possibilities to achieve it. I would like to believe that we have inspired each other and enriched each other with new perspectives on the subject," says Pavel Doubek, M.D. , Ph.D., the head of the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation and expert guarantor of the conference.

Friday belonged mainly to the issues of child psychiatry and sexual medicine, the topic of transgender people, paraphilia or sexual education of people with mental and intellectual disabilities. On Saturday, the lecturers focused on mental disorders, the role of sleep hygiene or the topic of indications and therapeutic limits of neurostimulation therapy. Also presented was the Mindwell platform - digital therapy for mental illness, which, like the entire hospital, falls under the AKESO healthcare holding.

At the end of the conference, the participants also toured the premises of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, a building with a unique lighting system that mimics the natural daily cycle and whose effect is to maintain the correct setting of circadian rhythms. This appropriately applied lighting regime has the effect of treating symptoms of mood disorders, improving activity, positively affecting memory and, last but not least, the quality and duration of sleep. The centre provides inpatient
and outpatient services, including suite care and premium care. Specialists here treat a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. The Mental Rehabilitation Center is also unique because of its emphasis on continuity of care, for example, through a community-based and multidisciplinary approach.
