The group meets once a week. The patient's involvement must be recommended by their outpatient psychiatrist. The composition of the group does not change significantly during this time and the clients have the opportunity to get to know each other well and deepen their relationship. Each meeting is led by an experienced psychotherapist who helps to elaborate on the specific topic that the group is dealing with at that particular meeting. In addition, he or she also selects appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques to help the group and its members cope with their difficulties.
"The great advantage of our group is how motivated the patients are to work actively on their difficulties. Thanks to this, there is a great potential to improve their health," says psychotherapist Pavlína Dvořáková, who founded the group and runs it together with crisis interventionist Petra Kašperová Poldaufová. "Because patients return to their normal life after the meeting, they can immediately try out their new knowledge in practice. The results will be visible sooner," adds Pavlína Dvořáková.
The cornerstone of group meetings is the opportunity to share experiences and provide feedback. For many of the members, this is a completely new way of psychotherapy that they are not familiar with from their own individual meetings with an outpatient psychiatrist or psychologist. Linking different approaches together thus provides them with a comprehensive solution that makes it easier for patients to get to the core of their problems.
