Over two hundred future medical professionals from Kladno, Plzeň, Příbram and Olomouc visited the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, where the AKESO medical holding prepared the premiere year of the AKESO DAY event for them. The aim was to introduce the students to the modern form of healthcare, to present individual workplaces and to show them the possibilities of professional employment.
The programme was opened by the Director of Healthcare Projects and Development of AKESO Holding Mgr. "The aim of the AKESO DAY event was to show the students healthcare in its modern, practical and human form as we do it at AKESO. I am convinced that this experience can help them in making decisions about their professional future," said Irini Szentiványi.
The students and teachers also got acquainted with the environment of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, first through a presentation led by the Deputy for Mental Health of the Beroun Hospital MUDr. Martin Hollý, MBA together with the Head Nurse of the Centre Mgr. Renata Heinrichová. "I am glad that we were able to introduce the students to the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, where from the beginning we have emphasized the combination of top-quality healthcare with a human approach and helpfulness. In mental health care, these values are absolutely crucial, which is why we always put them first," Martin Hollý told the students.
There was also an interactive "Ask the Doctor" section , where students asked their questions via an app and received answers directly on stage.
The "Don't be afraid to enter" session also aroused great interest, in which colleagues from the HR departments presented the possibilities of scholarships, job opportunities and support for young people entering practice.
The afternoon was devoted to workshops with examples from practice. The students could try out, for example, de-escalation techniques when working with a patient, movement therapy, neurostimulation techniques or preparing a treatment plan. There was also an experiential programme with an interactive tour of the Centre.
The presentation on neurostimulation techniques in psychiatry caught the attention of Natalia Vymazalová, a third-year student of General Nursing at the Higher Vocational School of Health in Olomouc. I really liked both the theoretical and practical part of the workshops, it was nice to connect this knowledge with practice, where I go as part of my studies. The environment here is amazing, I give it an A with a star," the student evaluated with a smile.
PaedDr. Ivana Košanová, a teacher of general education subjects and educational advisor at the Secondary Medical School and Higher Vocational School of Health in Pilsen , also added a positive assessment of the whole event. I have comparisons from similar facilities abroad, for example from Germany, but the local workplace is two levels further. We appreciate above all the professional approach to patients, which is based primarily on respect and empathy, and the fact that every role - whether coordinator, nurse or other staff - fits precisely into the whole, which then works perfectly."
The event ended with a joint farewell in the multifunctional hall and a raffle draw for prizes. The AKESO DAY thus offered the students not only practical experience and new knowledge, but also a glimpse into an environment that could become their future workplace.
