HR specialists across the entire holding are responsible for the complete HR agenda. From recruitment, administration, on-boarding of new recruits to benefits and daily care and training of employees. They attend conferences, trade fairs, marketing events and presentations in schools.
AKESO Group has high goals and never stops innovating and growing dynamically. Behind the turnover of CZK 4.5 billion lies the combined efforts of more than 3,000 employees. "Close cooperation, sharing of information and the need for mutual support between the healthcare facilities and the holding's headquarters is very important. We also help each other with the recruitment of key positions and with HR marketing activities. The number of CVs received could be described as a result of teamwork. As a result, over 2,000 unique candidates passed through our hands last year, including 88 physicians and 379 other medical staff. We have a great success rate in concluding employment contracts with students who have been on internship with us and decided to join us in their professional future after graduation," says Jeannette Knížková, HR specialist at AKESO Holding's headquarters.
HR must be a first-class service
Hořovice Hospital has an HR team of four HR specialists. "Our big advantage is that we are a smaller hospital and there are open and friendly relations between employees, which creates a good working environment," says Andrea Kropáčová, head of the HR department there. "After joining, each employee has a team trainer who helps them to fit in. They are also helped by a printed guide with a summary of important steps for a successful start in employment. A closed Facebook group, where we regularly post the latest benefits or events for employees and their loved ones, also ensures wider information. Of course, there is also an intranet with current events across the industry. We regularly announce a questionnaire campaign on employee satisfaction. This year saw the highest participation ever. A return rate of 51% means that 478 employees completed the survey, 81% of whom would recommend our hospital as a good employer. We advertise vacancies on websites, social media and in printed periodicals, but recommendations from existing employees work best. When an employee recommends a new colleague to us, they receive a financial reward. Employees are our partners and HR is a service that has to be first class," explains Andrea.
Cooperation with schools is important
Naďa Hloušová works for Multiscan in Pardubice and is not only its spokesperson, but also its communication coordinator with schools. She is also responsible for the subsequent recruitment of candidates. "Close cooperation with schools is clearly paying off for us in the long run. We try to show students and recent graduates that our hospitals and other facilities are well-equipped and that our employees work well here. The aim is to be their first choice of employer. We are currently actively working with nearly thirty medical schools. To recruit new employees, we use various channels such as holding websites and social networks, personnel websites, job fairs, we send out offers to schools and medical Facebook groups," says Naďa, who also arranges student excursions to the Pardubice Oncology Centre as part of her communication with schools and, in turn, goes with a team of colleagues to present AKESO Holding's hospitals to schools.
Special care is given to education
Kateřina Horová heads the payroll and HR department at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun. In a team of four, they take care of the entire HR agenda, including payroll. "Our hospital is not only renowned for its excellent rehabilitation and medical care, but also for its team spirit. This is confirmed by the results of the employee survey, in which 75% of the staff said that it is the interpersonal relationships within the hospital that they value the most. There is also a strong emphasis on communication. This is why employee satisfaction has been rising year on year. We are currently completing the recruitment process for the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, which is staffed and ready to start operations. All the selection procedures are carried out in cooperation with the HR department, the Deputy Nursing Director and the Chief Nursing Officers, depending on the post in question. There is also a lot of training for the medical staff, which is another area that the HR department is dedicated to. Doctors have a number of educational duties as part of their certification, and our physiotherapists are learning other methods that they can apply in their work. Education is therefore very important to us," concludes Kateřina.
What's more, it's the benefits that count
"In order for people to stay with us in the long term and be satisfied with us, we have to provide them with a comprehensive care package, starting with a modern working environment and ending with perfect benefits. Within the healthcare facilities, we offer our employees a wide range of benefits, which we try to expand every year. For example, they can benefit from fully-equipped apartments of premium quality, shuttle transport, kindergartens on the premises of the hospitals, a 3% of gross salary contribution to a pension scheme, a MultiSport card, language courses, free financial and legal advice, a more favourable mortgage or insurance, season tickets for family activities and cultural events, discounts at the pharmacy and more. We offer suburban camps for the children of our employees, and our unique benefits include trips to Greece, which are given to selected employees every year and of which we gave out almost 50 this year," Jeannette describes. Construction of 135 additional apartments for employees will also begin shortly.
