Therefore, the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) inpatient unit for the treatment of insomnia was established at the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation. As David Pánek , head of the Sleep Medicine Centre, under which the group falls, says: "It is crucial for us that we can help people who cannot sleep in a long-term and effective way. During the treatment, they are introduced to the basic rules of sleep hygiene, they also undergo an individual analysis of their sleep habits and training in appropriate procedures that lead to an improvement in the quality and duration of sleep. In addition, patients can also benefit from complementary neurostimulation therapy, one of the modern methods of treating insomnia."
The inpatient group meets once a week on Mondays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and the program includes five meetings and one additional evaluation conducted 4 weeks apart. The inpatient program is based on the findings of cognitive-behavioral therapy, and in each session patients try different exercises using the methods of this therapy. In addition, each session has a movement part, where patients are offered different exercises and relaxation techniques for a change. Thus, attending the inpatient clinic will not only help them to improve the quality of their sleep, but also to increase their physical well-being.
Interested people can make an appointment through an online form on the Mental Rehabilitation Centre website, in which they select the "I have insomnia problems" box. Admission to the inpatient group is always preceded by an indication examination, during which they discuss their problems and medical history with a specialist, while the doctor explains in detail how the treatment will work and what they can expect from it.
The insomnia treatment centre is part of the emerging Sleep Medicine Centre, which will treat all major sleep disorders, including snoring and sleep apnoea or unusual sleep behaviour, in addition to insomnia. It is also unique in being able to combine the treatment of sleep disorders with psychiatry due to its inclusion under the Mental Rehabilitation Centre.
