The excursion began in the large meeting room of Hall G, where the audience learned about employment opportunities through a presentation by PR manager Lucie Liskova . And also about the long list of benefits that hospital employees can access. There was also a presentation of the entire AKESO medical holding company, under which the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun together with other facilities falls.
After a short refreshment, the thirty visitors divided into two tour groups. One of them was led by the Deputy for Nursing Care Mgr. Radka Zinková and the other followed Lucie Lišková. All of them had a unique opportunity to walk through, for example, the entire Rehabilitation Centre of MUDr. Jan Calta. Among other things, they tried exercises on the interactive MYRO device, which helps to make rehabilitation more effective after neurological or orthopaedic diseases and injuries.
The next stop was at the Arthroscopy Centre in Hall M. This is the heart of the Day Care Centre, which, together with other facilities of the AKESO medical holding, represents the provision of a wide range of services within the framework of day care medicine.
The last part of the visit belonged to the Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Hall S. In the atrium, the students were welcomed by the Deputy for Project Management Mgr. Pavel Scholz, Ph.D., who introduced them in the conference room to the modern concept of psychiatry that is gradually being introduced at the centre. For example, the audience learned about the healing effect of the building using circadian lighting. They also learned about other modern facilities and equipment as well as treatment programmes that make the patients' stay and treatment more comfortable.
"The rooms are maximum double rooms, at the same time one whole floor is single rooms. Among the therapeutic methods here, for example, we have a unique phototherapy. We are planning a therapy using virtual reality," said Pavel Scholz, among others.
One of the topics discussed was also the fact that the field of psychiatric and psychological care for children and adolescents in particular is facing a long-term shortage of specialists. For example, one of the third-year students at the medical lyceum, Tereza Hálová, was aware of the situation. "In the future I would like to go into child psychology or psychiatry. I have been determined to do so for a long time. Not only because I am very interested in these fields, but also because of what Mr. Schloz mentioned, that they are in crisis," said the young woman, appreciating that during Thursday's visit she and her classmates got a chance to see the hospital's operations.
