The Centre for Mental Rehabilitation organised a seminar on the care of adolescents in cooperation with the Nákel health care facility

The number of young people with mental health problems is constantly growing and the help for them has long been undersupplied. That is why the management of the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation (CDR) organised a clinical seminar in cooperation with the Nákel organisation, where both institutions presented the main specifics and challenges of psychiatric and psychological care for adolescents and young adults to an audience of professionals.

Both CDR and Nákel have extensive experience in caring for juveniles, although each offers a different type of service. CDR provides acute psychiatric care in two wards opened in 2025. Nákel offers primarily short-term outpatient psychological services for children, adolescents, and young adults who need acute help but do not have a psychologist or psychiatrist.

"Our ambition is not to cure, but to provide crisis intervention," explained one of the founders of Nákel, Mgr. Daniel Krejcar, MBA. "The child and the parents get reassurance, understanding, diagnosis and recommendations on what to do next." Together with him, a number of his colleagues came to Beroun, so that the two departments could share their experiences with each other.

It was for the psychologists from Nákel that the Deputy for Mental Health Care Martin Hollý, MBA, presented the functioning of the two adolescent wards at the CDR. In addition, there are also attendance groups for children in the second stage of primary school and for adolescents in the CDR. A school is also available for all patients, so both hospitalized patients and participants in the attendance groups do not miss out on education.

"In a time burdened by a mental health crisis, collaboration between facilities that target similar clientele is an opportunity to effectively utilize the capacity of the care system. In what is called networking, it is important to understand the system of work and also to get to know each other personally. That iswhy we have organised this seminar," explains Dr Hollý.

The CDR organises clinical seminars for its staff every month. Their aim is to provide employees with regular training opportunities right here in Beroun. Each seminar focuses on a different topic related to psychiatric care, allowing participants to gain new perspectives on treatment.
